Gulf Shore LOVE

Retreats

Guest Blogger: Kathleen Walsh
The Gulf Shores’ community continued showed some serious Little Pink love to our families on Wednesday.
DSC_5774The full day included ocean fishing from the (long!) pier, painting (and some dancing), a pink firetruck, a makeup party, swimming and a sunset dinner on the 29th floor of the Turquoise Place.
Christie, of Christie’s Paint-n-Shop became instant friends with Little Pink founder, Jeanine, last year and welcomed our families back to her shop for the second straight year. In addition to showing off her dance moves, she helped our families turn blank white canvases into works of art.
In fact, the entire SanRock Shopping Center community where Christie’s located seemed to be in on the pink love, offering gifts and discounts to our families. The rest of the group joined us at SanRock after spending the morning reeling in lots of fish at the Gulf State Park Pier and we enjoyed lunch on the outdoor patio courtesy of Fiddle Fish Restaurant.
Rolling in for lunch was the Guardians of the Ribbon Alabama pink firetruck. These fireman honor women who have been diagnosed with cancer, asking survivors, loved ones and friends to sign the firetruck as a rolling memorial.
In the afternoon, several VolunSTARS went on a mission to get scarves for our survivors. In sharing the Little Pink story with owners at Emporium Gifts & More, St. Charles Place, and Sweet Dreams, the owners donated beautiful scarves for our beautiful ladies!
Our survivors were treated to hair styling by Rock Academy of Cosmetology beauty school. These young ladies took so much time and care for our survivors and even brought them gift bags of hair care goodies.
To top off an amazing day, a gentleman named Bill XXX, showed up to sing to our survivors and their guests at their special dinner. We met Bill on Monday on the beach when he approached our team to ask what our story was as he had watched us with our families on the beach that day. After sharing, Bill immediately offered to share his gift of music with our families. Two days later he was singing.
Gulf Shores has more than beautiful white beaches, they also have large pink hearts!
