Hope, RI: Ain't no mountain high enough

Tour of Hope

Today’s stop on the 2014 Summer Tour of Hope was in the most fitting town on our trip- Hope, RI.  And this stop was a long time in the making.  Sherry and Mike Pelosky made a decision a couple of months ago to climb Mt. Washington and raise money for their stop for Little Pink.  The climb was not only physically challenging, but it was a way for Sherry to commemorate her 50th birthday.  She is an amazing cancer survivor!  So a couple of weekends ago, they looked at the weather report and went for it– all the way to the top!

And Sherry raised money all along the way.  Her father, Ray, got involved by making these unbelievable birds!  We got lucky enough for him to present Little Pink with one tonight!

And their daughter Danielle did a Donate Dimes to make a difference campaign to bring their grand total to $2,548.50!

So tonight was a true celebration of Sherry’s accomplishment!  We had a chance to hear all about the trip and have a fun evening with friends and family.

A special thanks for the wonderful generosity of Greg and his staff of the Radisson Hotel in Hartford, CT.  We were made to feel like very special guests.  It is donations like this that help us make it across the country without major out of pocket expenses!  Thanks Radisson Team!

As a special surprise today, I veered off the path to visit one of our amazing, young LPHOH moms, Rachael Gagnon in Connecticut.  What struck me again today was how strong the women going through this disease have to be.  They have to try to educate themselves about all of the decisions that they make about their medical care while worrying about the bus stop, grocery store, takeing the kids on errands, etc.  Rachael is an amazing inspirational example of what a Stage IV cancer mom looks like!  She inspires me just being around her!  Loved getting off of the beaten path today!

Surprises are so much fun!  What an amazing day!!!
PS.   Ramblings from the road:  Seriously, how cool are all of these amazing women!  They have cancer and are moving and shaking to help Little Pink and share their desire for advocacy in their own community!  If nothing else inspires you to share info about LPHOH, these women should!
