Standing Up and Chowing Down

Retreats

By Guest blogger and Volunstar Victoria Workman
What a great Day for LPHOH! It is only the first full day and already families are making new friends and conquering new challenges. Paddle boarding was the first activity on the agenda for the trip here in Key West, Florida. It was wonderful to see all the excited faces show up this morning to join in the fun.

Lazy Dog Adventures did an amazing job of making everyone feel safe and was able to get all the mothers to stand up on the paddleboards! WOOHOO!!!

It was thrilling to see multiple women raise their paddles above their heads in triumph after they conquered the challenge of standing up on the boards.

The fun continued as laughter filled the air at the sight and sound of splashes and people falling in the water. After working up an appetite on the water, lunch was served under the cool shade of the gardens of West Martello Tower. The smell of wraps and humus joined the scent of the flowers from the Key West Garden Club as all the families filled their stomachs.

After lunch, the families were given the opportunity to enjoy free time and receive a hand painted sun hat from local artist Scott Allison.

After free time, everyone returned refreshed and hungry to dinner. Chicago’s Restaurant treated the families to a scrumptious dinner that once again left them stuffed and satisfied. Once again smiles took over the faces of all who attended dinner and relationships grew deeper.

The day came to an tranquil end as the sun set over Mallory Square and everyone headed back home to rest up for another day of memories and smiles to follow.
