2021 Participant/Breast Cancer Survivor
Carolina Beach, NC

I should have posted this quite a while ago, but life this year has been rather tough. The highlight of the year for me had to be the retreat to Carolina Beach with my daughters. Little Pink Houses of Hope made it possible for us to spend a week together (which has not happened since 2004) without the stresses of life and cancer. I have been living with stage IV breast cancer for 10 years now. Treatment will never end for me. Being able to escape my life of chemo and doctor’s appointments to relax on the beach with the ocean wind in my newly grown-in hair was such a gift. My girls and I were able to reconnect and it allowed them to have a week of not worrying about Mom! I know we were not very sociable, keeping mostly to ourselves, but still taking advantage of the free meals offered. The wonderful actions of the whole town and LPH made me feel overwhelmed with love and support. I feel so lucky and blessed. Thank you for the gift of “escape”!
