Art therapy

Retreats

We started Tuesday with a survivor coffee get together at Uglie Mugs. They have generously opened their doors and hearts to our group year after year.  How amazing is it that we have not only 11 survivors as participants, but 5 survivors as VolunSTARs!  What a wonderful group of STRONG and loving women!

After coffee, we joined up with the rest of the families for some much needed art therapy painting pottery.  The creativity and joy on everyone’s face as they created their piece of pottery was inspiring.  There was one person that even said, “I did not think I would enjoy this, but it was a great activity”.  Gary and Carolyn Schena at Studio 12 gave everyone a new memory, as well as a time to reflect and be together!

We had our usual Tuesday lunch at Angelo’s Pizza in Buxton.  The pizza at Angelo’s is the BEST on the island.  The service and atmosphere are just as awesome.

Many of the families then ventured out to the ocean and enjoyed the beautiful weather!  We all joined back up for dinner at Hatteras Realty for a pasta dinner provided by Sue Klein.
After dinner we all went to Frisco Mini Golf and Go Karts and had some fun competitions!  The VolunSTARs had just as much fun!

Hopefully tomorrow will bring low winds and smooth stand up paddle-boarding!
